Notion Journal
The cult Notion journal template is back for a third year - why is everyone obsessed with it?
I've been using The Happiness Bar Journal since it launched in 2021 and I love it! I can edit parts of the pages to match my style and it's become very helpful for me to fill in the pages every day and record how much sleep I've had, how I feel and what I did every day. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking to start a journal in Notion. Congratulations on making yet another brilliant product | Ethan Isaac - Product Hunt Launch

💭 The Story
Oh my goodness, I can't believe I'm back launching this journal for the third year in a row 🥹 When I first launched this journal back for 2021, it was just a 'I wonder if I could build a journal in Notion'. Fast forward to the 2023 journal, the community has grown to 3.2k+ daydreamers, who actively ask me throughout the year when the next one is being released. Thank you to everyone who's been a part of making the community special - especially anyone who's submitted one of the 170 wellness tips that are sprinkled throughout the year. This year, I've brought the community even more to the forefront. Instead to join ANOTHER community app (ergh), I've embedded a chat section and photo sharing space RIGHT in the template itself, which you're already adding to 🥹. I've also included my 'habit nudger' tool, which is a more mindful and less judgy approach towards habits, that has honestly changed my life and I hope will change yours. So yes, you'll journal; track your mood and sleep; customise your prompts; decorate with the curated GIF sticker library; set goals; write a letter to your future self; reflect on your memory box; build your happiness station and... more. But what I really hope is that this is the first step to a more intentional year for many of you Thanks for taking the time to read this, I'm really looking forward to sharing some of this magic with you Wishing you an abundant New Year, filled with your wildest dreams, Frances

FAQs
Bullet journal vs Notion journaling: What's the Difference?
Bullet journaling and Notion are two popular tools for organizing and managing information, but there are key differences between the two.
Bullet journaling is a paper-based system for keeping track of tasks, events, and notes that relies on an analog pen and paper system. It offers a degree of flexibility that allows users to customize their journal entries with sketches, illustrations, and notes. It is often used to track tasks, plan events, and keep track of ideas.
Notion, on the other hand, is a digital workspace that allows users to create, organize, and share their work. It offers tools such as databases, boards, and calendars to help users organize their information, and it allows users to create and share documents, tasks, and notes. Unlike bullet journaling, Notion is cloud-based, so users can access their information from any device.
Overall, both bullet journaling and Notion offer users different ways to organize their information, and both have unique advantages. Bullet journaling offers users a great way to stay organized by using an analog system, while Notion offers a great digital workspace for organizing and sharing information. Ultimately, the choice between the two depends on the user's needs and preferences.

What’s the best way to learn Notion?
As a Certified Notion Consultant with a background in building and managing human/digital products and experiences, I personally take a heavy design-thinking approach to all of my projects. 80% of my clients in my coaching calls, workshops & custom builds come to me to ‘makeover’ their workspace i.e. build a seamless Notion experience that is nice to look at and easier to use.
If you’re looking to build a great Notion workspace, you need to approach it like you would approach building a house. Remember the LEGO block analogy? The first thing you need to know about Notion is that it is literally blocks. Learn the blocks, then learn how and when to use each block. There are a ton of YouTube videos/blogs out there - I have a list of resources on my site. Start with a blueprint (empathise with end user(s) and goals), then choose the best blocks/techniques to achieve what you need.
If you’d rather not torture yourself with 1000s of productivity YouTube videos (cough, Notion isn’t a productivity tool, it’s a possibility tool, I’ve literally built a Beyonce template that was loved by Sequoia Capital), and want a more creative approach to learning Notion, driven by design thinking, you’re free to explore my super-popular and affordable MySpace-themed course, ‘#MyNotionSpace’.
Yes millennials, if you remember spending hours customising your profile page on MySpace/Bebo/Tumblr etc. , now you can recreate that joy. After learning advanced Notion tips (including how to make it pretty), you’ll practice your new skills by building your own shareable ‘profile page’ while becoming a Notion wizard. Not only can this double up as a portfolio/resume to give you an edge for your dream job, after completing the course (it’s about 3 hours of videos), you’ll earn a certificate which you can post on your LinkedIn profile/website as a shiny ‘hire-me’ flag. Even if you don’t want to use it for work purposes, you can still make a cute profile page that would probably go viral on TikTok, because you know, ‘Y2K’.
Is Notion safe for journaling?
Notion is a secure, private platform for journaling and note-taking. All data on your password-protected accout is stored securely on its servers, with all data encrypted. Additionally, you can customize the permissions for each workspace, allowing you to control who can access and edit your notes. With these features, you can be sure that your notes and journal entries are safe and secure when using Notion.
